Patriot League Swimming Championships Begin Wednesday
ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The 2018 Patriot League Swimming and Diving Championships get underway on Wednesday and will run through Sunday at the United State Naval Academy’s Lejeune Hall.
The event begins with the men’s 3-meter diving trials at 2 p.m. with the final starting at 6 p.m. Preliminaries will begin at 10 a.m. and the finals will swim at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
“The team and I are very excited. We started training Aug. 28 and it’s been a long training season. We’ve put in a lot of yards and a lot of work. Now it’s time to taper, shave, tech suit up and compete well,” said Lafayette head coach Jim Dailey. “We should see several great performances from both teams. I would believe that all the classes will be pulling their weight in each of their individual events and relays.”
“Championships are always very fast. The Patriot League always seems to produce several NCAA Division I “B” qualifying standards along with a few “A” standards being made. That’s great news for a league that averages partial scholarship only,” Dailey explained. “Most of our performances should make it into the All Time Top 10 performances and some of them will be team records.”
The entire 2018 Patriot League Swimming and Diving Championships can be viewed for free on the Patriot League Network starting with Wednesday’s evening session, and live results can be found here here.
