Swimming Program Recognized by CSCAA
EASTON, Pa. – The Lafayette men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams were chosen as Scholar All-America teams by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America. This selection was based on classroom performance during the fall semester.
To be recognized as a CSCAA Scholar All-America Team, programs must average a 3.0 GPA or higher. The women posted a 3.34 GPA, while the men earned a 3.37. Since 1992, the women have been honored 48 out of 49 semesters and the men 46 out of 49.
“I’m very excited for both teams to carry on the long-standing tradition of making the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America teams. Over the last 24 years (48 semesters) of being head coach at Lafayette our men have only missed achieving this award three semesters and our women one semester. That’s quite a long commitment to academic excellence by both the men’s and women’s teams.”
“Our student-athletes recognize and are motivated to accomplish outstanding academic and athletic performance. I’m glad that Lafayette allows for a student-athlete to balance the academic rigors and athletic training at the NCAA Division I level. All of our student-athletes have a chance to participate in other opportunities here as well. They are involved in the Greek system, college academic and social interest clubs and leadership opportunities. I believe it provides a better well-rounded graduate with better opportunities for employment or further education.”
