Leopards Compete in Quad Meet at Bucknell

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Lafayette took the two-hour trip across I-80 to Bucknell University’s Kinney Natatorium where the Leopards squared off against Navy, Bucknell and American in a Patriot League quad meet on Saturday.

Sam Haines was the top overall finisher for the Leopard men, placing second in the 100 butterfly in 52.26. Teammate Bryce Currie placed just behind him in fifth place (54.96) and also took fifth place in the 200 free (1:46.94).

In the freestyle sprint events, Kyle Doherty took home fifth place in the 50 (22.17) and 100 (48.45). Tanner McFarland secured a fourth-place finish in the 400 IM, touching the wall in 4:28.79.

In the relay events, the men’s 200 relay placed first in 1:27.54.

The Lafayette women had seven swimmers finish in the top 10. Alexa Overeem placed ninth in the 200 breast (2:31.26) and ninth in the 400 IM (4:56.83).

Emily Benson (10th in 1000 free in 11:30.25), Celia Randall (10th in 200 free in 1:59.80), Noelle Buckley (9th in 100 breast in 1:09.56), Mary Zimmerman (10th in 100 free in 55.44) and Maureen McShane (10th in 500 free in 5:29.06) rounded out the top-10 finishes.

Next up for Lafayette is archrival Lehigh on Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. in Bethlehem, Pa.
