Feb. 23, 2014
ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Lafayette swim team finished Patriot League Championship competition Saturday at the U.S. Naval Academy's Lejeune Hall. The Leopards final showing of the season brought down two school records. Greg Grewal continued his stellar week in the 200 yard breaststroke.
In the morning preliminaries, Grewal topped Andrew Rutherfurd's 1992 pace in the 200 yard breaststroke of 2:02.63 with a 2:01.77 en route to a seventh seed in the finals, but he wasn't done yet. In the night cap, he shaved more than a full second off his preliminary time when he took fourth place and the school record with a finish at 2:00.63.
Christopher Wickwire qualified for the B finals in the 200 yard butterfly with a record setting 1:50.78 in the preliminaries. The previous record, set by Chris Grabowski in 2003, was 1:51.51. He would finish off individual action by taking third in the B cut final, 11th overall, with a time of 1:51.49.
The Leopard women finished in ninth place overall with 107 points, while the men took seventh with 168 points.
