Tascione Scores in 200 Breast as PL Championships Come to a Close
ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Patriot League Swimming and Diving Championships came to a close on Saturday night at Navy's Lejeune Hall.
Matt Tascione highlighted the top individual performances for the Leopards. He placed 15th in the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:07.50, a time that advanced him up Lafayette's all-time top 10 swims.
"It was a great finish to the meet," said Lafayette head coach Jim Dailey. "Our 400 free relays did very well. The women missed the school record by only 0.36 seconds. The team of Sydney Wight, Allie McBrearty, Julia Hall and Anne Marie Mozrall swam their best relay splits ever and those times are now in our top 10. The men had to beat Holy Cross in the relay to place ahead of them in the overall team scoring and they did. The relay consisted of Kyle Doherty, Bryce Currie, James Grieb and Matt Tascione. Everyone split 46 and also just missed the school record."
The women's 400 relay finished ninth in 3:32.40 while the men placed seventh in 3:06.11.
In the team scoring, the Lafayette men placed ninth, five points ahead of Holy Cross. The Lafayette women finished 10th, 11 points out of 10th.
