LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Junior Sam Haines had the Leopards' top finish on Friday's morning session at the Patriot League Swimming and Diving Championships. Haines just missed qualifying for the finals in the 100 butterfly, swimming a time of 50.83 to place 17th.

Sophomore James Grieb also placed in the top 20 (19th), swimming at time of 58.43 in the 100 breaststroke. Classmate Brian Ross was 20th in the 100 backstroke in 52.88.

"We needed maybe one more day of taper because our times today improved greatly. In the preliminary heats we had some great swims," said Lafayette head coach Jim Dailey. "Reeve Lanigan went 1:07.57 in the 100 breast for a place in the all time top 10. Faye Melekos swam an all-time top 10 time in the 100 fly at 57.56. Maureen McShane did very well in the 200 free, going 1:55.85."

In the night session, the Leopards' 200 free relays competed. On the women's side, Anne Marie Mozrall, Kyra Helfrich, Sariyah Sherry and Julia Hall swam splits of 25.03, 24.42, 24.40 and 23.84 respectively for eighth in 1:37.69. Hall's split qualified her for Lafayette's all-time top 10. In the men's relay Kyle Doherty, James Grieb, Bryce Currie and Xavier Laracuente had splits of 21.46, 21.11, 22.32, 20.78 respectively, finishing seventh in 1:24.67.
