EASTON, Pa. - The Lafayette swimming and diving teams hosted its final meet of the 2007-08 campaign on Saturday, as the Leopards continue to prep for their league schedule. Lafayette dropped both meets to Rider, as the men fell 167-107 and the women a close 155-145 decision.

The Leopard afternoon was highlighted by two record-setting performances, one from Marcella Nehrbass, as she broke her own previous pool record with a 53.40 time in the 100 freestyle.

On the men's side, Brian Cronise broke the three-meter diving record with a score of 283.35.

The women received a one-two-three sweep in the 100 breaststroke, as Liz Geary (1:08.04), Laura Jordan (1:10.89) and Barbara Pennington (1:11.00) controlled the event for the Leopards.

Katie Kaczka etched her name into the win column when she tallied a victory in the 50 yard freestyle (24.60). Nehrbass continued her successful afternoon, trailing Kaczka by just .02 seconds to finish second.

Another Lafayette sweep in the 200 breaststroke continued the scoring. Jordan (2:29.71), Lauren Bedard (2:33.56) and Pennington (2:35.14) notched the sweep.

A final win from the 400 freestyle relay team (3:37.56) (Hilary White, Kerry Nichols, Nehrbass and Kaczka) wasn't enough, as Lafayette fell just short of the victory.

Coupled with Cronise's pool record, John Jenkins recorded two wins one the afternoon, the first coming in the 200 yard freestyle (1:45.65) and later in the 100 freestyle (48.19). Steve Rubino was victorious in the 100 butterfly (52.32) and Brian Wolz grabbed a 4:28.23 win in the 400 yard IM.

The men also ended the afternoon on a positive note, when the 400 yard freestyle relay squad (Aaron Lampley, Brendan Lawson, Seth Price and JB Worster) notched a time of 3:19.19 for the victory.

The Leopards will be back in action on Feb. 2 when a split-squad travels to Colgate in a three-way meet with Army, while others will visit the Navy Invitational.
