Lafayette Faces Wooster in Relay Invitational

PLANTATION, Fla. - The Lafayette men’s and women’s swim teams took on Wooster in a relay invitational meet Wednesday as part of their Winter Training Trip. The meet did not have team scoring.

On the men’s side, the team of Evan Newbold, Greg Grewal, Joshua Hitchings and Robert Lowery took first in the 200 meter medley relay, posting a time of 1:38.13.

Grewal, Russell Lambert, Robert Pollastro and David Woods teamed up to top both Wooster squads in the 4x50 meter breaststroke with a time of 1:54.41.

In the 3x100 individual medley relay, the trio of Pollastro, Grewal and Newbold combined for a time of 2:52.72 to take first place.

David Perlow, Adam Gill and Tom St.Vincent took to take first in the 3x100 meter freestyle in 2:34.50.

The 3x100 meter breaststroke saw the trio Grewal, Woods and Lambert take the top spot, posting a time of 3:10.96.

Gill, Hitchings and Newbold also won in the 3x100 meter butterfly by finishing in 2:47.79.

Hitchings, Lowery, Newbold and Christopher Wickwire finished off the meet with a first place in the 4x50 meter freestyle at 1:33.73

The women fared in similar fashion with a handful of top finishes. Abby Floyd-Jones, Meridith Guro and Kate Durkan garnered the first one in the 3x100 meter backstroke with a time of 3:14.41.

Jane Kuntz, Guro and Lauren Berry took the top spot in the 3x100 meter individual medley relay with a time of 3:14.58.

The quartet of Caroline Kearney, Ashley Goreshnik, Andrews and Megan Kaveney combined for a first place, 1:54.67 in the 4x50 meter butterfly.

Durkan, Berry and Kaveney rounded out the meet with top spot in the 3x100 meter freestyle with a time of 2:51.09.

The Leopards return to action Jan. 18, when they travel to Hamilton, N.Y. to take on Colgate and Army in tri-meet action.
