Cindy O'Donnell, an NCAA Division I All-American diver at Northeastern during her college career, begins her seventh season as diving coach for the Lafayette men's and women's swimming and diving team.
O'Donnell came to Lafayette from Montclair State, prior to the 2006 season, where she was the Redhawks diving coach from 2002 through 2004.
O'Donnell was ranked 12th in the nation as a senior and set America East records each season from 1996 through 1998. She was team MVP four consecutive years and holds pool records at six schools along the East Coast. O'Donnell earned her bachelor of science degree in Biology from Northeastern in 1999.
She also competed nationally as a gymnast for 13 years, from the time she was eight years old, and was cited by the governor of New Hampshire for establishing records in state gymnastics competition. O'Donnell is also a former Boston Globe Athlete of the Year.
Following graduation, O'Donnell accepted a position at Robert Half International in Cambridge, Mass. while serving as head diving coach at Simmons College in Boston. While at Simmons, she coached the first diver in school history to participate at nationals, and won the Charles Batterman Award for Women's Diving Coach of the Year in 2002.
She continued her professional development as a healthcare representative with Pfizer, Inc. in New York City, where she established herself as one of the pharmaceutical's top representatives.
O'Donnell is the founder of Board Benders, where she coaches and heads diving clinics at Kirby Sports Center.
