HAVERFORD, Pa. - Lafayette fencing went 2-3 at the Philadelphia Invitational, hosted by Haverford College on Nov. 11. The Leopards posted wins over St. John's College and Virginia, while losing to Virginia Tech, Maryland and North Carolina.

Sophomores Banks Clark and Jarrod Rottau helped the Leopards to their two wins with impressive performances in epee and foil respectively. Clark led the Leopards with a 13-2 mark for the day, going 3-0 against St. John's College, Virginia Tech and Virginia. Rottau mirrored Clark's performance in foil by going undefeated against the same three teams for a 12-3 final record.

Lafayette started the day by beating St. John's College with an overall score of 19-8. In addition to Clarks' 3-0 mark, sophomore Brian Warner went 3-0 in epee against the Red Storm for an overall 6-3 record. Lafayette also won foil, 6-3, and sabre, 7-2.

After suffering a 27-10 loss to Virginia Tech, the Leopards re-emerged to narrowly beat Virginia, 14-13. Lafayette won epee 7-2, and earned went 6-3 in foil and 5-4 in sabre, giving them enough points to pull out the win.

The Leopards fell to Maryland, 18-9, despite a 3-0 score from junior captain Luigi Camilleri in sabre. Lafayette ended the day with a 24-3 loss to UNC.

Lafayette will be back in action when it travels to Madison, N.J. for the Drew MACFA Invitational on January 27
