Sheng Leads the Way at Haverford Invitational

Haverford, Pa. - The Lafayette College fencing team competed in the Haverford Invitational over the weekend at Haverford College. Julia Sheng led the way for the Leopards, winning five out of her six bouts.  

The men's saber team took down Haverford, 7-2, as Jake Burns and Alex Gorloff each won three bouts. The foil squad also posted a 6-2 victory over Haverford. Phillip Manna, Tim Gaziano and Alex Zhang each posted a pair of wins. The foil group also beat Rutgers, 7-2, with Gaziano, Manna and Brandon Smith all posting victories. The men's epee took care of Rutgers, 8-1. Conrad Stoerker led the way with three victories.

The women's epee team consisting of Haley Mauriello and Allison Reich pulled out a 5-4 win over Bryn Mawr. The women's foil posted a pair of wins, 7-2 over Bryn Mawr, and 6-3 over Haverford. Andie Mitchell posted four wins in the two victories.

The fencing team is back in on Dec. 7.
