Fencing Captures Two Wins at MACFA A

MADISON, N.J. – The Lafayette men’s fencing team picked up a pair of wins at the MACFA A Round Robin on Sunday afternoon at the Simon Forum on the campus of Drew University.

The Leopards claimed a pair of one-sided victories against Marist (22-5) and TCNJ (18-9), while also playing close matches with Cornell, Rutgers and host Drew.

In sabre, the Maroon and White went a combined 33-12 on the afternoon, including a perfect 9-0 against Marist in the second match of the day. Alex Gorloff had three shutouts and only dropped two of his 15 total bouts, while Patrick Rekieta had two shutouts and went 11-4.

Andrew Mange highlighted the foil by going 11-4. He claimed wins in all three bouts against Marist and Drew. In epee, the Leopards won 28 bouts and were led by Conrad Stoerker, who went 11-4. The senior picked up a 3-0 sweep against Marist while never losing more than a single bout in any of his other four matches.
