Team Cup Dates

LC's Team Cup is designed to create camaraderie amongst the student-athletes of each varsity Division I athletic team at Lafayette. Teams can earn points in five different categories throughout the year and the SAAC representatives from each team are essential in assuring the program runs successfully. All information regarding events, standings, and criteria can be found on the Lafayette College Athletics website (geleopards.com), under Inside Athletics, and at the Student Athlete Advisory Committee website.

The Team Cup will be initiated each year with an annual Kick-Off Picnic for all student Athletes. The Kick-Off Picnic will be held on the field next to Zete and behind Pardee on Sunday, August 31, 2008.

Areas of Judgement:

  • Academic Achievement
The point distribution was be determined by a team's average team GPA during the fall and spring semesters. The team with the highest GPA average will be awarded 23 points, the team with the second highest GPA will be awarded 22 points, and so on until the team with lowest team GPA will be awarded 1 point.
  • Athletic Achievement
Each team will receive points based on their overall conference finish. If the team wins their conference championship and advances to NCAA postseason play, the team will be awarded additional points. Teams will also receive additional points for Player of the Year honors, Player of the Week honors, 1st, 2nd, and Honorable Mention All-Patriot League.

Season Record: Win Percentage multiplied by 20 points
    Conference Finish:1st place = 10 points
     2nd place = 9 points
     3rd place = 8 points etc.
A team will be awarded an extra 5 points for winning their conference's championship tournament
Individual Awards:1st Team All Conference = 3 points
     2nd Team All Conference = 2 points
Player of the Week Award = 1 point
Player of the Year Award = 1 point
All American Team = 2 point

Community Service
  • SAAC will work in conjunction with the Landis Community Outreach Center to increase the awareness of student athlete community service projects. In order to receive points for your teams, volunteering sheets must be handed into Landis. Each team will receive 10 points for the completion of their mandatory community service project and an additional point for every 5 hours of community service completed by student athletes on the athletic team.
SAAC Participation
  • Teams will receive one point per representative for their attendance at the SAAC monthly meetings; unexcused absences will be penalized one point each meeting.
"Pard Pride"
  • SAAC will work in conjunction with Sports Marketing to create "Pard Pride" dates throughout each team's season. Participation in these events, wearing the designated t-shirt, and other forms of involvement will merit points. Participation in other Lafayette Athletic Department sponsored events will also be countered toward each team's point total (ex - Kristin's Story, Jarrod Spencer's presentation, etc.). For each event held, it will be the SAAC representatives for each team's responsibility to check in with the event coordinator to inform them of how many team members are in attendance. Points awarded for each event will be 5 points multiplied by the percentage of the team present.
First Place Prize/Trophy Presentation
  • Team Luncheon in the Third Floor of Kirby Sports Center during halftime of the Parents Weekend Football Game (if football team wins, the luncheon will be held during a basketball game in the winter)
