As the associate director of Lafayette's Academic Resource Center, Dana Filchner coordinates the Academic Support Program for Student Athletes and co-supervises the Supplemental Instruction Program. This is Filchner's third year on College Hill where she advises student-athletes in the areas of academics, career development and leadership.

She was most recently an academic coordinator at North Carolina State University's College of Undergraduate Affairs from 2000 to 2002. While at N.C. State, Filchner assisted in coordinating a life skills course for student-athletes and provided academic and personal counseling.

From 1997 to 2000, Filchner was employed at Radford University. While at her alma mater, she was an academic coordinator and leadership program coordinator. As an academic coordinator, she supervised all academic support programs within the athletic department and provided study skills and test taking strategies for student-athletes. She became the leadership program coordinator at Radford in 1999, assisting with the planning and development of all phases of the University's leadership education program. She also provided training and support to student leaders and graduate assistants.

Filchner graduated from Radford University with a bachelor of science in Graphic Design and Art History in 1995. She earned a master's degree in Counseling and Human Development from Radford in 1999.
