Dawn Comp begins her 18th year as part of Lafayette's sports medicine team and fifth year as senior associate athletic trainer. Comp, formerly Schleiden, had served as associate athletic trainer at Lafayette from 2001-08. Her primary sport travel responsibilities include women's soccer and women's lacrosse.

She is the department's rehabilitation coordinator, where her central responsibility is coordinating and communicating the progressions of all student-athletes' rehab. Comp also coordinates and oversees weekly in-house clinics with team physicians, as well as the organization of professional nutritional consultations and educational forums.

Comp has also worked as a clinical instructor since her arrival on College Hill, which allows her to work with athletic training curriculum student interns from East Stroudsburg on a yearly basis. She also served as a Sexual Assault Coordinator and Educator (SACE) for the College for several years.

Prior to her promotion to associate athletic trainer, Comp spent six seasons as an assistant. During that time she worked with men's and women's basketball, men's soccer and field hockey, along with being responsible for coordinating the instruction, scheduling and supervision of student athletic trainers and student interns.

Comp spent the summer of 1999 serving as a staff athletic trainer for two Lehigh Valley semi-professional teams, the Black Diamonds baseball team and the Steam soccer team. She also worked the Adidas Elite Soccer Program in 1997.

Comp's first stint as a certified athletic trainer came in 1993 when she spent two years as a graduate assistant at Bloomsburg. She provided evaluation and treatment of injuries, designed and implemented rehabilitation protocols, supervised and scheduled student athletic trainers and handled insurance claims and record keeping. Comp holds NATA certification, PA licensure and is a member of the Pennsylvania Athletic Trainer's Society, where she was the treasurer in 1999. She is certified by the American Red Cross as a CPR, AED and First Aid instructor and certified as a professional rescuer. Comp also specializes in John F. Barnes Myofasical Release I techniques for rehabilitation.

A native of Perkasie, Pa., Comp earned her bachelor of arts degree in Psychology from Millersville in 1992 before going on to earn her master's degree in Exercise Science and Adult Fitness from Bloomsburg in 1998.

Since 2005, Comp has been a member of the Board of Directors of Lauren's First and Goal Foundation. She has assisted in the organization and administration of the one-day camps, pre-registration camp application entry and has been the volunteer coordinator. As a board member, she votes on the allocation of money raised for brain tumor research and other pediatric cancer patient assistance.

Dawn and her husband, Bret, reside in Palmer Township.
