Lafayette's football team laid claim to back-to-back championships by virtue of a thrilling 23-19 win over archrival Lehigh on Nov. 19 at Goodman Stadium. After earning a NCAA I-AA at-large playoff bid, the Leopards were unable to upset eventual national champion Appalachian State. The team's valiant effort came up on the short end of a 34-23 decision.
On the soccer field, Lafayette earned its sixth Patriot League Championship and its second in three years. The Leopards did not allow a goal in the Patriot League Tournament and came away with wins over Lehigh and host American en route to the title. Getting the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, the Leopards drew nationally ranked Creighton in the first round. Unfortunately, Lafayette's season came to an end in Omaha, Neb. as the Bluejays came away with a 3-0 victory.
