A Message From Director of Athletics, Bruce McCutcheon

Nov. 20, 2008

EASTON, Pa. - Dear Alumni, Parents, Friends, Students and Fans of Lafayette:

We have the honor of hosting the 144th meeting of college football's most played rivalry when Lehigh comes to Easton on Saturday. The rivalry is steeped in history and tradition and the game on Saturday will certainly add a new chapter.

Lafayette College and the Patriot League strive to be leaders in intercollegiate athletics, with a strong emphasis on ethics and sportsmanship. The Patriot League, with the support of member Presidents and athletics administrators at all eight institutions, has developed an extensive sportsmanship initiative designed to improve awareness and encourage positive behavior at all athletic events. We need your assistance to make this effort a success.

I ask for your involvement in this effort to help Lafayette be well known for great teams that conduct competition with class, dignity and honor. Your actions, particularly on Saturday, are extremely important to the image of our team and our College. You can have a positive impact on the guests that visit Lafayette and the experiences of the participating student-athletes and officials. Please adopt a philosophy of respect and responsibility and help your fellow fans do the same.

Lafayette is a great institution and you are part of its rich athletic history. Please act as though you represent all those that came before you and all that will follow - because you do. Thank you.

Bruce E. McCutcheon
Director of Athletics
