Azer Named Director of Athletic Development & Executive Director of the Maroon Club

Easton, Pa. -- Josh Azer has been named Lafayette’s Director of Athletic Development and Executive Director of the Maroon Club and is set to begin his new role Oct. 17.

Azer comes to Lafayette from Gettysburg College where he served as an Assistant Athletic Director and Associate Director of the Orange & Blue Club since 2012. He led highly successful athletic fundraising efforts at Gettysburg for the past four years, including annual gifts and major capital projects.

“The Director of Athletic Development position serves a critical role in advancing the mission of our athletics program,” said Lafayette Director of Athletics Bruce McCutcheon. “Josh is an athletic development professional who has significant experience in advancement, marketing and relationship building. His strong background, experience and leadership will help us advance an already strong Maroon Club foundation. We are excited to have Josh join our team.”

I am confident that Josh has the experience, enthusiasm and talent to build on the Maroon Club’s success and reach the levels of excellence that will enable our student athletes to have championship opportunities.”

While at Gettysburg, Azer was also responsible for the Orange and Blue Club’s signature events which included the Hall of Athletic Honor Ceremony and the Gettysburg College Golf Classic.

I look forward to working with our talented coaches, administrators, alumni and parents as we pursue excellence in athletics and academics.”

Prior to working at Gettysburg, Azer served as the Coordinator of Club Sports and Recreational Programs at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. He oversaw 25 club sport programs and managed a budget of over $130,000 at UMBC. Azer was also instrumental in developing a portfolio for each club team in order to generate revenue for the club sport programs.

Azer’s experience also includes time as a corporate sales manager with Front Row Marketing in Trenton, N.J., and as a game day operations intern with the Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League in 2007 and 2008.

Azer received his bachelor’s degree in sports management from the State University of New York at Cortland and he owns a master’s degree in sports leadership from Northeastern University.

Azer will be moving to the Easton, Pa. area with his wife, Katie.
