EASTON, Pa. - SAAC and the Department of Athletics will kick off the 2008-09 Team Cup competition with a picnic Thursday on the quad (Kirby Sports Center is the rain site for the kick-off picnic.) The picnic will introduce the Team Cup competition to the student-athletes and coaches. Attendees will receive a t-shirt and a list of games which they are encouraged to attend in the fall semester to support their fellow student-athletes while donning the "Maroon Platoon" gear.

Lafayette's Team Cup is designed to create camaraderie amongst the student-athletes. Teams can earn points in five different categories (academic achievement, athletic achievement, community service, SAAC participation and Pard Pride) throughout the year with SAAC representatives overseeing the program.

Lafayette Athletics, as a partner in the mission of the College, provides an incredibly effective learning experience for student-athletes through competitive NCAA Division I athletics. Lafayette sponsors 23 varsity sports with more than 600 student-athletes.
