EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu)-- Incoming students and their families accepted the help of over 200 Lafayette student-athletes Friday morning during move-in day. The athletes provided some extra manpower, relieving some of the stress that can be associated with moving into a college dorm.
Student-athletes from seven of Lafayette's fall varsity sports participated in the event, lugging everything from refrigerators and televisions to bedding and books.
This marks the sixth straight year the student-athletes volunteered their mornings to help the incoming freshmen. The College's Office of Student Residence and the Lafayette football program started the tradition in August 1999.
Teams that participated included football, volleyball, field hockey, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's cross country and cheerleading. Each athlete was designated an area and time slot on campus and each team wore shirts to identify themselves as part of the move-in staff.
Classes for the fall semester begin on Monday, August 29.
