Student-Athletes Join in for 12th Annual Freshman Move-In Day
Aug. 25, 2011
EASTON, Pa. - Over 300 Lafayette student-athletes and coaches welcomed their new fellow Leopards to campus on Thursday, battling the elements to participate in the College's 12th annual Freshman Move-In Day. Student-athletes representing nine varsity sports, as well as the Lafayette cheerleading team, joined forces with various campus organizations to assist the incoming Class of 2015. Many of the fraternities, sororities and other groups that lent a hand also featured varsity student-athletes. The program was started in 1999 as a joint effort of the football team and the Office of Student Residence. The field hockey, cheerleading and men's and women's soccer teams started the day at 7 a.m., avoiding the incoming storm and assisting the first wave of freshmen in unloading their vehicles and navigating the stairwells of the various dormitories. The football, volleyball, men's and women's cross country and men's and women's basketball squads arrived at 9 a.m. and braved downpours to help the remaining batch of new Leopards. The Class of 2015 will attend orientation events this weekend prior to the first day of classes for all students on Monday, Aug. 29. |
