Dana Filchner Named Coordinator of Lafayette Academic Resource Center

Aug. 14, 2007

EASTON, Pa. - Dana Filchner has been named the coordinator of Lafayette College's Academic Resource Center, athletic director Bruce McCutcheon announced. Filchner will lead the academic enhancement program for the College's student-athletes.

"Dana comes to us with a wealth of experience as both an advisor and instructor, focusing on advising student-athletes in the areas of academics, career development and leadership skills," McCutcheon said. "We are fortunate to have Dana join our team."

Filchner brings to Lafayette a great deal of knowledge of academic advisement at the collegiate level. She most recently served as an academic coordinator at North Carolina State University's College of Undergraduate Affairs from September 2000 through December 2002. During her tenure at N.C. State, she assisted in coordinating a life skills course for student-athletes and provided academic and personal counseling.

Prior to her time at North Carolina, Filchner was employed at her alma mater, Radford University, from August 1997 through September 2000. She held two positions during her time at Radford, first serving as an academic coordinator. As an academic coordinator, she supervised all academic support programs within the athletic department and provided study skills and test taking strategies for the student-athletes.

In October 1999, Filchner moved on to work as the leadership program coordinator at Radford until September 2000. In that role, she assisted with the planning and development of all phases of the University's leadership education program and provided training and support to student leaders and graduate assistants.

Filchner earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Graphic Design and Art History from Radford University in 1995. She continued her education at Radford as she went on to earn a Masters of Science degree in Counseling and Human Development in 1999.

Filchner currently resides in Northampton, Pa.
