CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - The Patriot League News, a quarterly printed newsletter for the past 12 years, will change formats to a weekly electronic distribution beginning in September 2002.

"The Newsletter has been an important promotional tool for the Patriot League," said Executive Director Carolyn Schlie Femovich. "However, we see the evolution to an electronic format to be a quicker and more efficient way to service our readers. It also allows the League to more fully utilize our website capabilities."

For the past 12 years, the PL Newsletter has featured photos, final standings and year-end major award winners for each sport, Presidents' Cup standings, profiles of scholar-athletes, updates from the Executive Director's desk and stories related to other League or NCAA issues.

In addition to continuing those regular features, the new e-mail format will allow readers to more easily follow all sports on a weekly basis. In conjunction with the Patriot League website, subscribers will be able to directly access all PL weekly reports as well as more feature stories and columns on teams, coaches and student-athletes throughout the League.

The initial distribution will be to all PL coaches, administrators and media. Fans, student-athletes and others are able to register on-line to receive the weekly update via the PL website at www.patriotleague.com.
