Hischak, Leflar Join Lafayette Athletic Communications Staff
July 1, 2002 EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Alison Hischak and Michael Leflar have been named graduate interns in the Lafayette College Athletic Communications Office. Hischak graduated from Syracuse University in May 2002 with a bachelor of science degree in Broadcast Journalism from the Newhouse School of Public Communications. For two years (2000-02), she served as a public relations intern for the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League. Hischak also spent a year as an intern for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, also of the AHL. While at Syracuse, Hischak was a sports beat writer for The Daily Orange, covering a variety of sports. A native of Larksville, Pa. located outside of the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area, Hischak spent four years (1996-00) as a sports correspondent at The Times Leader and the summer of 2000 as a sports intern at WBRE-TV in Wilkes-Barre. Leflar is a May 2002 graduate of Boston College where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in Communications and held minors in American Studies and Black Studies. The native of Horsham, Pa. brings a variety of print media experience. He was an editorial assistant and stringer in the sports department at The Times Herald in Norristown, Pa. for over a year. While at Boston College, Leflar wrote for The Heights, a newspaper based in Chestnut Hill, Mass., covering the Boston College and Big East sports scene. He also wrote for The Crossroads, a Catholic newspaper in which he penned articles on social issues in the sports world. "Alison and Mike both bring solid credentials and a wealth of experience to the office," said Director of Athletic Communications and Promotions Scott Morse. "We're excited to have them join our staff and are looking forward to working with them during the coming year." Hischak and Leflar are set to begin July 1. |
