Five Promoted Within Lafayette Athletic Department

EASTON, Pa. – The Lafayette Department of Athletics has announced five promotions, effective July 1. Kaitlyn McKittrick, who previously served as the Senior Associate Director of Athletics, has been promoted to Deputy Director of Athletics.

In this role, McKittrick will be the primary adviser to Director of Athletics Bruce McCutcheon and will provide oversight for the day-to-day activities of the department. In addition, she will supervise the Sports Performance and the Facilities and Operations areas. McKittrick is entering her 10th year at Lafayette and will continue her role as the Senior Women’s Administrator.

Tony Russo has also been promoted to Director of Athletic Equipment Services. Russo will head the football equipment operations and supervise the staff and services for the entire athletic equipment operation for 23 varsity sports. He previously served as an assistant and had been overseeing the department in an interim role.

In the Sports Performance area, Stephen Plunkett is the new Director of Strength and Conditioning. Plunkett previously was the Assistant Director of Sports Performance, overseeing all activity in the Maroon Club Strength Center. In his new position, he will take on training responsibilities for the men’s basketball team and continue the responsibilities of his other job, including prescribing year-round training for 19 sports and close to 500 student-athletes.

David Downey, who was recently an assistant strength and conditioning coach, is the new Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning. Downey assumes additional responsibilities for sports such as swimming, track and field, golf and tennis.

Within the football program, assistant coach Phil Hallahan takes on the title of Director of Football Recruiting Operations and Community Outreach. Hallahan will retain his duties as the running backs coach and will have added responsibilities within recruiting, including overseeing the recruiting budget and managing recruiting visits. He will also be charged with organizing community involvement for the football program.
