EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - A record 310 Lafayette student-athletes, about 64% of the total 486 student-athletes on campus, posted a GPA of 3.0 or higher in the spring semester.
This marks the fourth straight semester in which at least 300 student-athletes have earned a 3.0 GPA. During this spring semester 11 students achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA.
The women's tennis team was at the top of the list for the second straight semester with a collective GPA of 3.40. The men's soccer team headed the list among the men's teams with a 3.25 GPA. The biggest mover was the golf team, which after ranking 18th out of 21 teams in the fall, moved all the way up to seventh on the list with a team GPA of 3.22.
In all, 13 out of the 23 varsity teams registered a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. Also, 12 of the teams improved their overall team GPA from the fall semester. There were four teams whose team GPA was higher than the All-College Average: women's tennis, women's soccer, field hockey and women's swimming. The top two teams that improved the most from the fall semester were the golf (+.28) and football (+.25) teams.
