Lafayette's athletic program continues to be recognized by the NCAA for outstanding academic performance. Fourteen teams in 2008-09 scored a perfect 1,000 academic progress rate (APR).

Among the Lafayette teams honored were baseball, men's basketball, men's and lacrosse, men's soccer, men's and indoor track and field, men's outdoor track and field, women's basketball, women's cross country, women's indoor track and field, women's lacrosse, women's outdoor track and field, women's soccer, women's swimming and volleyball.

Six of the 14 teams averaged 1,000 over the past four years: men's and women's cross country, men's and women's lacrosse, women's swimming and women's tennis. Thirteen Lafayette teams ranked in the 90-100th percentile in their respective sports. Nearly every Patriot League team scored above the national average in Academic Progress Rate scores, with more than 60 squads from League schools hitting a perfect multi-year mark.

The Patriot League once again landed as one of the top conferences in the nation in APR data. More than 98 percent of Patriot League teams scored above the national multi-year Division I APR average of 967, and more than 60 percent of those squads came in at 990 or higher.

The overall multi-year Division I APR is 967, up three points from last year. In the high-profile sports (as determined by the NCAA), football's average four-year APR is 944, up five points over last year; men's basketball is 940, up seven points; and baseball is 954, up eight points.
