EASTON, Pa. - The male nominees for the Charles L. Albert '08 award were announced Tuesday and include Evan Newbold from swimming, Ross Scheuerman from football and Dan Trist from men's basketball. The winner will be announced on Thursday, May 21, at the 2015 PARDees.
The PARDees, which begins with the red carpet walk at 4 p.m., will be hosted by Gary Laubach of the Lafayette Sports Network and Susan Averett, an Economics professor and Lafayette's NCAA Faculty Representative.

Four graduating seniors will receive special recognition as the Charles L. Albert, Class of 1908 Awards and the Class of 1913 Trophies will be presented at the event. One male and one female senior student-athlete will win each honor, which are voted upon by Lafayette's head coaches and athletic administration.
The Albert Award is presented annually to the senior male and female student-athletes at Lafayette who are judged to be the most outstanding athlete. The 1913 Trophy is presented annually to the senior male and female student-athletes who have attained the greatest distinction both as an athlete and a scholar.
The final announcement of the male nominees for the Albert award will be announced on May 19.
The 2015 male nominees for the Charles L. Albert '08 award:
Evan Newbold: 3.33 grade-point average in Neuroscience with a minor in Aging Studies, holds three school records in the 100 Back, 200 Medley relay and 400 Medley relay, sits in the All-Time Top 10 in five events (1st -- 100 Back, 3rd -- 200 Back, 5th -- 50 Free Relay split, 8th -- 50 Free, 9th -- 200 Free Relay split), four-time Most Valuable Swimmer by class year.
Ross Scheuerman, Football: 2.78 grade-point average in Economics, a four-time All-Patriot League selection at tailback, ended his collegiate career with 3,504 rushing yards and 31 rushing touchdowns in four seasons, sits third and fourth in yards and touchdowns, respectively, in the Lafayette record books, finished with 129 career catches for 1,129 yards and eight touchdowns as a receiver, selected to play in the NFLPA Collegiate bowl on Jan. 17, 2015 on ESPN2, was invited and participated in the 2015 NFL Combine in Indianapolis in February, held his own Pro Day at Lafayette, which was attended by 11 NFL Teams, signed a free agent contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Dan Trist, Basketball: 3.2 grade-point average in Economics, member of the Dean's List in Fall 2013, earned Patriot League Academic Honor Roll status in Fall 2013, Spring 2013 and Spring 2014, member of the Oaks Leadership Academy, four-year starter including a key performer on the 2015 Patriot League championship team, made an NCAA Tournament appearance this past season, a unanimous selection to the All-Patriot League First Team, earned NABC All-District 13 Second-Team honors, scored over 1,400 points and ripped down more than 500 rebounds during his career, represented to the Australian National Team in basketball at the 2011 Under-19 Basketball World Championships.
