Three Women Up for Charles L. Albert '08 Award

EASTON, Pa. -- 
Lafayette athletics moved its nominee announcement focus to the Charles L. Albert ’08 Award on Thursday afternoon, announcing the three women up for the honor. The nominees include track & field's Drew Davis, Amanda Magadan of field hockey and women's lacrosse’s Kirsten Wilhelmsen.

The PARDees, an annual awards show that recognizes Lafayette's senior student-athletes for their accomplishments and contributions to their programs, will be hosted by Gary Laubach of the Lafayette Sports Network and Susan Averett, a professor in Economics. The event will take place on Thursday, May 18, with a red carpet walk beginning at 4 p.m.

Four graduating seniors will receive special recognition as the Charles L. Albert '08 Awards and the Class of 1913 Trophies will be presented to one male and one female each. The winners are determined by a vote from Lafayette's head coaches and athletic administration.

The Albert Award is presented annually to the senior male and female student-athletes who are judged to be the most outstanding athlete. The 1913 Trophy is presented to those who have attained the greatest distinction both as an athlete and a scholar.

The nominees for the 1913 Trophy were released earlier this week, while the male nominees for the Albert Award will be announced on Friday, leading up to next week's event. Information on the 2017 female nominees for the Charles L. Albert ’08 Award can be found below.

Drew Davis, Track & Field: Economics major with a 3.27 GPA…three-time Patriot League champion, winning the indoor women’s 400m in 2017, the indoor women’s 4x400m in 2015 and the outdoor women’s 4x400m in 2015…holds four school records in the indoor 500m, the outdoor 4x100m, the indoor 4x400m and the outdoor 4x400m…three-time All-Patriot First-Team selection, with one in 2017 and two in 2015…Second-Team All-League honoree in 2016…earned All-East honors three times by finishing in the top-eight at ECAC championships…medaled five times during her career at the Patriot League championships…sits in the top 10 all-time at Lafayette in six indoor events and seven outdoor events…winner of the 2017 Lehigh Valley AIAW Women’s Track Athlete of the Year and the 2016 Arthur Ashe Award…active in the Economic Empowerment Global Learning Project, serving as a project leader in 2015 and a research assistant in 2014, reviewing the activities of Appalshop, a community media development organization in Whitesburg, Ky.

Amanda Magadan, Field Hockey: Economics and Psychology major with a 3.31 GPA…Academic All-Patriot League Team selection in 2016 and a Patriot League Academic Honor Roll member twice…named an Arthur Ashe Scholar in 2016…selected to the U.S. Women’s National Field Hockey Team in 2017 and was a U21 US National Team member and co-captain from 2014-16…served as a team captain for Lafayette in 2015 and 2016…All-Patriot League First and Second Team selection in 2015 and 2014, respectively…named to the Patriot League All-Tournament Team in 2015…selected as a First-Team All-Region player in 2015 and 2016…NFHCA Third-Team All-American in 2016…Preseason All-Patriot League honoree in 2015 and 2016…participated in the Junior World Cup in 2016 and earned a silver medal at the Junior Pan American Games that same year…was the Rappolt MVP in 2015 and 2016 and named the Iron Leopard in 2014 and 2016…named Lafayette’s outstanding athlete in 2016 and was the LVAIAW Field Hockey Athlete of the Year in 2016…actively involved in Alternative School Break Club, Athlete Ally, Psychology Club, Lafayette Women and Business Club and Athletes C.A.R.E…served as a Psychology Lab Assistant and the co-chair of the Student-Athlete Activities Committee…took part in the Oaks Leadership Academy and attend the United States Naval Leadership Academy in 2016.

Kirsten Wilhelmsen, Women’s Lacrosse: Psychology major with a 3.46 GPA…seven-time Patriot League weekly award recipient, with five coming in 2017…three-time Academic All-Patriot League selection and four-time All-Patriot League honoree, receiving first-time laurels in 2016 and 2017…winner of the Patriot League Attacker of the Year in 2017…served as a team captain in 2017 and was a Preseason All-Patriot League selection in 2016 and 2017…earned Patriot League Academic Honor Roll status in 2014 and 2016…ranked in the top-seven nationally in six offensive categories, including goals per game, total goals, total points, points per game, shots on goal per game and shots per game…led the Patriot League in goals per game (3.75), points per game (5.19) and shots per game (7.94) in 2017…finished fifth in the league in draw controls per game (3.75) and sixth in caused turnovers per game (1.69) in 2017…finished her career with 203 career goals, good enough for third in Lafayette history…ended her career second all-time at Lafayette in draw controls…top 10 all-time in the Patriot League in caused turnovers, single-season and career, and single-season points…recorded multiple points in every game in 2017…scored eight goals in a game this past season, the highest individual scoring performance for a Lafayette player since 2002…named an Oaks Leadership Academy Leader of Distinction.
