EASTON, Pa. -- Lafayette athletics continued its nominee announcements for the PARDees on Wednesday afternoon, announcing the three men up for the Class of 1913 Trophy. The nominees include football's Collin Albershardt, Matthew Cortese of men's lacrosse and baseball's Trevor Houck.
The PARDees, an annual awards show that recognizes Lafayette's senior student-athletes for their accomplishments and contributions to their programs, will be hosted by Gary Laubach of the Lafayette Sports Network and Susan Averett, a professor in Economics. The event will take place on Thursday, May 18, with a red carpet walk beginning at 4 p.m.

Four graduating seniors will receive special recognition as the Charles L. Albert '08 Awards and the Class of 1913 Trophies will be presented to one male and one female each. The winners are determined by a vote from Lafayette's head coaches and athletic administration.
The Albert Award is presented annually to the senior male and female student-athletes who are judged to be the most outstanding athlete. The 1913 Trophy is presented to those who have attained the greatest distinction both as an athlete and a scholar.
The male and female nominees for the Albert Award will be released throughout this week, leading up to next week's event. Information on the 2017 male nominees for the Class of 1913 Trophy can be found below.
Collin Albershardt, Football: Economics major with a 3.66 GPA...started 11 games in 2017...made 24 tackles, matching his career-high of four tackles against Holy Cross on Oct. 24 and Princeton on Sept. 19...named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, the FCS ADA Academic All-Star Team and the CoSIDA Academic All-District II squad with a 3.75 in-season GPA.
Matthew Cortese, Men's Lacrosse: Economics major with a 3.29 GPA...played in 18 games, making 114 saves...named to the 2014 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll...actively involved in the Oaks Leadership Academy, the Investment Club, the Living Learning Community, the From Me to We program and as a Peer Mentor...winner of the 2016 HEADstrong award for Lafayette men's lacrosse, given for overcoming adversity on and off the field.
Trevor Houck, Baseball: Civil Engineering major with a 3.79 GPA...two-year team captain...four-year starter, earning Patriot League Pitcher of the Week honors on Feb. 20 after a win over Notre Dame...earned Dean's List in every semester and is an active member of the Oaks Leadership Academy and the Engineering Honor Society...recipient of the 2016 Maroon Club Male Scholar-Athlete Award and the Carroll Phillips Bassett Prize for scholarly achievement in Civil Engineering...serves as a Peer Mentor...accepted into the US Navy Officer Candidate School and the Nuclear Propulsion program...also honored as an Oaks Leadership Academy Leader of Distinction.
