EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette student-athletes and athletics staff participated in the fifth annual Kirchhoff Challenge on Monday afternoon at Fisher Stadium, raising $2,946 towards A.L.S. research.
The event, which is a series of physical tasks completed for time, is named in honor of Tom Kirchhoff '93, who passed away in March 2015 after a five-year battle with A.L.S.
In the student-athlete portion of the competition, Charlotte Rath from women's lacrosse took the top spot on the women's side, finishing in 8:14, while Will McCarthy from men's lacrosse was fastest for the guys at 8:01. Assistant field hockey coach Emily Janis was the top finisher among the staff with a time of 8:40.
In the team portion, which is determined by money raised and average finish time, the women's soccer and football teams claimed the top spots. Football was also the top fundraiser, bring in $1,195 for the cause.
