WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Fresh out of basketball season, the Lafayette cheerleading squad competed at the North East Pennsylvania Cheerleading Challenge held at Kings College on Saturday, April 2. The full day of action featured competition in both individual and team divisions.
Senior co-captain Tina Lamb placed first in the individual jump competition, beating out 28 other collegiate cheerleaders.
With a routine choreographed by senior co-captain Sheena Travaglini, Lafayette captured second place in the all-girl college division.
Lafayette was also represented in the individual stunt division, where Tisha Travaglini, Stephanie Danchak, Kim Smith, Ashley Arnold and Karolyn Kopcza executed a solid performance.
"Of that group, four out of the five members are underclassmen leaving much to look forward to in the future. The senior leadership of the squad will be deeply missed next year, but the future of Lafayette cheerleading is bright," said head coach Priscilla Mint. "I couldn't be happier with how it went. I am so proud of these girls, and it's nice to have our seniors leave on such a high note."
This was Lafayette's first appearance in the NE PA Cheerleading Challenge.
