(www.lafayette.edu) - New Lafayette director of athletics Bruce McCutcheon will take part in a live online chat Thursday, Jan. 31, to discuss his new position and offer insights into his vision for the future of Lafayette Athletics. McCutcheon, who was named Lafayette's 10th director of athletics on Sept. 20, 2001, spent the previous 10 years as the College's associate director of athletics following two years as the assistant director of athletics. Since 1992, he has been responsible for the general administration of the athletic department while also serving as its NCAA compliance officer.
Prior to coming to Lafayette, McCutcheon spent one year as an assistant director of athletics at Temple University. That followed a five-year tenure as an assistant athletic director at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale.
McCutcheon graduated from William & Mary in 1976 with a bachelor of arts degree in physical education. He was a two-sport athlete at William & Mary, competing in football and track. Recruited by then-coach Lou Holtz, McCutcheon went on to earn three varsity letters in football. He later earned a master of arts degree in sports administration from Ohio State University in 1982 and completed his doctor of philosophy degree in sport management in 1988 from Ohio State.
A native of Media, Pa., McCutcheon and his wife, Pat, reside on College Hill along with their three children, Ian, Meghan and Gavin.
