EASTON, Pa. - Four Lafayette athletic events slated for this weekend have been postponed.
Tomorrow, Lafayette was set to host Lehigh in men's basketball at 2 p.m. while the women's basketball team was scheduled to travel to Lehigh for a 7 p.m. game. The Lafayette at Lehigh indoor track and field meet was slated for 2 p.m. and fencing was set to participate in the Philadelphia Invitational on Sunday.
The men's basketball game will now be played at 7 p.m. on Feb. 8, while the women will travel to Lehigh on Wednesday for a 5 p.m. contest. Track and field has been moved to Monday, beginning at 5 p.m. (NOTE: this is an updated time, the meet had originally been moved to Sunday afternoon) and the fencing competition will now take place on Feb. 21 at 11 a.m.
The Lehigh Valley will be under a winter storm warning from the National Weather Service (NWS) beginning at 11 p.m. on Friday evening. A "state of emergency" was declared by Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf on Friday morning. The National Weather Service predicts six to 10 inches of snow for the Lehigh Valley with much less snow to the north into the Poconos and potentially much more to the south in Philadelphia.
